OSHO said about this book -"Hermann Hesse's book SIDDHARTHA is immensely beautiful. It repeats the story of Buddha in a different way, but in the same dimension, with the same meaning. It is unbelievable that Hermann Hesse could write it but could not become a siddha himself. He remained a poor writer – yes, a Nobel prize winner, but that does not matter that much. You cannot give a Nobel prize to a buddha; he will laugh and throw it away. Hermann Hesse was not an enlightened one. He was just an ordinary human being, but in a poetic flight he has written one of the greatest books in the world, SIDDHARTHA."

I love this book. There's just so much in here that will relate to anyone. The writing style has such a thought provoking essence to it as well. What I love the most about this book is how much you become involved with the main character and see how he changes over the course of this book.Highly recommend it!

A heartwrenching and powerful tale of human experience that spans a man's life searching for enlightenment. He follows his heart and follows no idols or teacher, gives way to his yearning for firsthand knowledge without dogmatic scripture or religious guidance. He simply views nature, his pain and the utterances of his heart to discern the totality of existence. Like with all journeys, he ends up where he started, having learned so much and yet not much more than the simplicity of life itself as of being eternal, connected, whole and free from judgement. His joy and calmness is not through knowledge but through experience ie wisdom. This story is about living a full life, running the full gamet of human temptations and impositions, eschewing remote piety in favour of getting your hands dirty. It's also about taking your own path in life and living your story, synthesising your lessons, from your own firsthand sources. Anyway, I'll be pondering this book for a long time to come. Thank you Naval Ravikant. To anyone reading, check out his podcasts all over the internet.

Very irritating format , as few as three words per line and what I would consider poor translation. Gave up and bought another more expensive copy , that was a lot easier to read.

4 stars : not for the book (solid 5 stars for this timeless classic) but for the edition.✔️This is a beautiful hardbound edition, with classic Buddhist illustration on the cover. Pleasing to the eyes.✔️Includes short biography of the writer Hermann Hesse.✔️Includes a section at the back dedicated to the quotes from the book.✔️A short description of Buddha and his life.❌I found a dozen or even more typographical errors.❌Originally written in German, this English translation contains too many grammatical errors but they're manageable.❌I would've appreciated a foreword on the work by some writer or thinker as it is a collectible edition. The book in itself needs no introduction. Written in a beautiful poetic style resplendent with stunning symbolism and imagery, it is a tale of a man's quest for Enlightenment. Through his journey and experiences the writer bestows unto the reader the precious gift of his knowledge. Not only a wonderful piece of literature, this little book is an instruction into understanding and living a conscious life. Highly recommended.

Really loved this story! Although I don’t relate too much to Buddhism, I found the explanations at the back of the book really helpful to connect with the characters and what they were referring to.This book really makes you think about your life, your possessions, and what’s really important. Will be reading again soon.

A gentle introduction to the thoughtful, investigative life of the spiritually inclined. Extra value here is inserted with the revelation that not all aspects of a pilgrim's life is all it promises. I see nothing wrong in questioning the established conventions in any form of existence in order to find your place in the universe. Follow Siddhartha on his journey.

This book plunged me into the amazing and fascinating life story of an Indian boy in search of spiritual enlightenment in the time of the Buddha. This novel is instructive for me. I liked the logical end, when Siddhartha reached wisdom at the end of his journey. This book may be of interest to those who seek spiritual growth.
